Carnegie Clarke Trophy — 2021
Fourteen players competed for the coveted Carnegie Clarke Driver at Royal Queensland Golf Club on Friday 24 September 2021 . The event had been postponed from August when Covid and lockdowns intervened. Usually it is held to coincide with Heritage Day, which celebrates the founding of Royal Queensland Golf Club.
The postponed event followed on from the Queensland Hickory Shaft Championships held only 4 days earlier, which may somewhat explain the reduced field.
The winner of the event was our President, Rob King-Scott who was presented with the Carnegie Clarke Driver by His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC CVO, Governor of Queensland. This would mark one of His Excellency's last duties before retirement at the end of October 2021.
The ever competitive Kevin Tuckwell was second with 36 points followed by Peter Egan with 34 points.
On Friday we said farewell to Past President and Life Member, Andrew Baker who played his last competition in Queensland for a time, but he promises to return after he has set up a hickory association in South Australia!
