Royal Queensland - July 2021
Friday 30 July saw 14 members on the Royal Queensland links compete for the July event. Scoring was high. It was a beautiful winter's day without the westerlies winds which have somewhat plagued us for the last few weeks.
Bradley Tatnell was in third place with 20 points, notably driving the 8th short par 4 for a regulation 2 putt birdie. Second was Kevin Tuckwell with 23 points. We have not seen much of Kevin this year, but he came out swinging. Naturally he must have thought he had it in the bag with a score like that, but Ivan Hodges was this month's winner with a 3 over par — 24 points. An extraordinarily good round even with such a generous handicap. Ivan is awarded $35 for his win, propelling him to second pace now on the Annual Leader Board.
We also welcomed guest Wayne Roberts who enjoyed the day despite not scoring as well as he may have liked. We look forward to seeing Wayne again.

Annual leader board
With only four games left in this event, the lead held by Bruce Collins has now been somewhat diminished. Bruce, from Brisbane Golf Club, however is still precariously holding on to the lead, just in front of Ivan Hodges from Royal Queensland. Ivan Hodges has won twice now from only three outings this year and is looking dangerous. Will Ivan press his advantage now with the next game to be held at Brisbane Golf Club.
It now seems clear that the number of entrants fielded in the upcoming games may well influence the final outcome. With more players entering, the prize pool will increase — offering a glimmer of hope to those lower on the leader board. With 20 players entered, first place would offer $45, in case you are counting your place in the field.
