Monthly Event - June 2021
On Monday 28 June nine hickory golfers met at the Brisbane Golf Club for 9 holes of hickory in the Brisbane Golf Club's 125th year. Recent drainage and irrigation works meant that there were some holes affected by GUR, but the greens were still in fine form from the recent Club Championships.
A beautiful winter's day prevailed with great conditions to play hickory golf, proving a real test to play without any distance markers as all sprinkler heads had been replaced. No exceptions were made for laser or GPS devices of course — a traditional test of ye ol' hickory golf.
The outstanding winner was Rob King-Scott with 21 points who putted exceptionally, ultimately rewarded with a number of birdies. Second was local member Greg Mellifont with 18 points, followed in third place by Bradley Tatnell on 16 points.
