Norman von Nida 2021 Results
Redland Bay Golf Club was this year's venue for the Norman von Nida trophy .
The field, which initially numbered 20 was reduced by injuries, illness and funerals. The weather also was threatening but, remarkably, rain and thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon did not eventuate although golf was played at times in a scotch mist and high humidity. There was casual water on many fairways, bunkers were out of play and the lift, clean and place rule was in place. Despite the challenging conditions the course was enjoyable to play and suited hickory play.
Thirteen players competed for the treasured Norman von Nida beret. Rob King-Scott had a return to form winning the the event with 40 points. Second on 38 points was the ever present and consistent Bruce Collins. Third was Alan Grieve with 36 points.
The competition was played on hickory handicaps. Thanks to the following members for their contribution.
Alan Grieve for handicapping;
Ross Bishop for setting up the course.
Our President, Andrew Baker for donating the berets and towels all embroidered, appropriately, with an image of Norman's iconic beret.
Finally, thanks to professional staff at the Redland Bay Golf Club for their interest and assistance in setting up the course.
