Monthly Event - July 2022

Only a dozen teed it up on Friday 29 July at Royal Queensland for the monthly event.  

The course was again in great condition with firm fast greens and perfect fairways.  Thank-you to the greens staff at RQ for the presentation of the course.

The weather also was perfect for golf...Brisbane winter golf is a real joy.  Committee member Arthur O'Shea commented during the round he could not think of anything he would prefer doing on a Winters Friday afternoon.  So why only 12 players turned up is anyone's guess but let this be a warning...I'll be asking for a note for you mum if you don't turn up next month.

President King-Scott took out the day with a fine score of 17 points.  Bruce Collins took second place on a count back from Ivan Hodges each on 16 points.  Mervyn Ross, Bradley Tatnell and Ross Haslam all come in with scores of 15 points.   

Upcoming events include the Qld Foursomes Championship to be held on 8 August at RQ.  The August monthly event is scheduled for 26 August.  The AGM is also scheduled for August 26 and for catering purposes please advise the Secretary if you are staying for dinner.  

The Player of the Year (POTY) competition leaderboard has changed considerably after the Queensland Championships.  Player should note points are more than doubled for the 18 hole competitions.  Full POTY points are under the "Results" tab.

Trophies were donated by Dr Peter Monks. 

Reminder that the Carnegie Clark Trophies event is scheduled for Friday 12 August.  Only RQ members can win this event however visitors are welcome.  Full details in the Upcoming events tab.
