Match Report - 6th monthly event of the year

Last month's foursomes championships must have taken a toll on our normally hardy bunch of hickory golfers.  Only 11 people turned up for the July event.

For those who couldn't make it, you missed out on perfect golfing conditions and the chance to post a good score.  Condition of the RQ course is superb in winter.  The greens are running true and fast as the links are prepared for the pennants and championship season.    

Now about those good scores...the author was feeling very happy with himself and looking forward to taking home the HGQ Shiraz with 19 points.  But counting your chickens too early is a rookie mistake as Mark Heiser (playing in the last group) bolted in with 20 points to snatch the wine.  Third place was taken by the very reliable Peter Kyffin.

Both Kyffin and Heiser played with the handicapper and can expect an adjustment to the number strokes they enjoy before we tee off next month. 

Talking of next month...the August event is to be preceded by the AGM.  We know how excited everyone is about hearing of the HGQ 2023/24 financials, so get your name down early to avoid disappointment.  

The 4 point club

2 people managed 4 pointers in July.  Mark Heiser in fact had 2 and Rob King-Scott also picked up  4 points on the last hole.
