Monthly Event - 27 September 2024

Match Report - Indooroopilly Golf Club

The outlook was not good for our first monthly event to be held at the Indooroopilly Golf Club, however, conditions improved to allow us to play. The rain ceased and the wind abated, and the sun attempted to shine. Nevertheless, the conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm of the 26 participants to make the day a success.

Thanks must go to Roger Gibson for organising and encouraging his fellow members at IGC to join us on their course. President Lyndal Plant led the IGC participants with former president Bruce Sackson and former Qld State champion Danny Spencer joining us.

Chris Cooper took the honours with 19 points followed by Bradley Tatnell in second place, 18 points. Third was Philip Akes. Five ladies played in the event with Robyn Wilson being the best performer with 14 points.

Postmortem reports suggest we might have some new converts to hickory golf, as many new to the event, although finding it challenging, enjoyed that moment of ecstasy in flushing that perfect shot.

All agreed that the event should become a permanent fixture on the HGQ calendar.
